Virtual ABA Therapy
Virtual ABA Therapy Goals
The goals of virtual ABA therapy are similar to that of our in-person services. ABA therapy goals are established during our intake process and are individualized to ensure we are meeting the needs of you, or your child. Online ABA therapy can help improve a variety of key functional skills for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Common skills ABA therapy can help improve include:
- Communication
- Social skills
- Self-help (dressing, brushing teeth, bathing)
- Feeding
- Toileting
- Challenging behaviors
What to Expect During Virtual ABA Therapy
During our telehealth ABA therapy sessions, a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) typically works with the patient in their home, while our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides supervision to the RBT through a video call.
Our BCBA will also provide parent training through telehealth while the RBT demonstrates the different techniques to assist in the parent learning.
Please note: We are accredited by the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence for our virtual services.
When you enroll in our virtual ABA therapy program you, or your child, can expect to receive the same support as our full-time and part-time programs. We utilize a variety of ABA therapy techniques and strategies, with a focus on positive reinforcement, to achieve long-term success.
Our ABA strategies and techniques include:
- Positive reinforcement
- Functional communication training
- Token economy
- Discrete trial training
- Task analysis
- Prompting and fading
- Natural environment training
- Premack principle
- Video modeling
The frequency and length of sessions will be determined during the intake process depending on the needs of you, or your child.

Is Online ABA Therapy Effective?
Online ABA therapy is an increasingly popular option that delivers the same evidence-based treatment using video technology. While online ABA therapy may not be right for every child or family, it can be just as effective as in-person treatment for many.
For families who are considering online services, it is important to work with a reputable provider who is certified in ABA and has experience delivering online treatment. At Empower Behavioral Health, our BCBAs have extensive training in telehealth treatment to provide you the same quality as you would get from in-person services. With the right support, online ABA therapy can be a powerful tool for helping children and individuals with ASD.
